Live The Downtown Albuquerque Life!
Downtown Albuquerque homes for sale range from lofts and townhouses to Victorian homes in the historic district. Because this is one of the oldest areas in town, you can find great homes on residential streets with mature landscaping. Lofts in converted buildings like The Banque Lofts are popping up in the heart of Downtown Albuquerque and offer ultimate convenience. The perks to living in Downtown Albuquerque have no end! Dining, arts and entertainment are all steps from your door. The Silver Street Market is now open in the Downtown area, so even grocery shopping can be done in close range. You may never want to cook at home, however. Delicious casual options like Asian Pear and The Grove Market and Cafe, as well as fine dining like Forque can be found. If you’re a coffee lover, then you’ll be pleased to have Espresso Fino in the neighborhood.
While you are downtown, check out the iconic Duran’s Central Pharmacy for some of the best green and red chili dishes imaginable. Yes, I’m a fan. This location is the perfect place to shop for gifts, clever cards, and your favorite personal care items. Hand-made jewelry, local artisans, all are featured here.
Homes for sale or rent in downtown Albuquerque can range from lofts and apartments in sprawling older houses to single-family homes with a Southwestern flair. Houses are available on residential streets, but if you’re longing to live in the heart of the city, above all the action, with the nightlife just outside your door, a downtown Albuquerque loft could be perfect for you.
Close to the I-40 & I-25 Interchange
Living in downtown Albuquerque is convenient for those who commute to work via the I-40 and I-25 interchange. Albuquerque is a vibrant and growing city, alive with Southwestern culture and creativity in all the arts. Art galleries, live music, street festivals, traditional crafts, handmade jewelry, vintage shops, and delightful dining experiences are part of everyday life in downtown Albuquerque. Depending on the home you choose, you may be able to walk or bike to work and enjoy the sights, smells, and energy of the city streets instead of an interstate commute.
Living the City Life Downtown!
If you love the idea of having the city right outside your window but want to be close enough to nature for easy weekend getaways, living in downtown Albuquerque real estate puts you within an easy drive to wineries, farm country, and the Sandia Mountains. You can plan day trips around wine tastings or farmers markets in nearby Corrales or escape for a weekend into the mountains. Winter means skiing and snowboarding in the Sandias, but even in warm weather, you can still enjoy scenic chair lifts on the Sandia Peak Tramway, the world’s second-longest tramway. There are trails for hiking and biking. The foothills and mountains abound with wildlife and unspoiled desert scenery. You can camp out and watch colorful sunsets that can only be seen in desert regions or you can spend a romantic and relaxing weekend at the Sandia Resort and Casino.
Where to go for Shopping and Eating?
For groceries, there is the nearby Lowe’s Market on 4th Street – a bit of a drive from Downtown, but the good news is that there is a proposed grocery store complex coming soon on Silver Street. (Keep in touch with me for updates on that!) Farmers Market – it’s become world-famous – our Rail Yards Market.
Restaurants are in no short supply in the downtown area, and the ever-favorite Grove Cafe (featured in “Breaking Bad”, of course) is a downtown favorite. Cecelia’s Cafe is a secret favorite (shhh, don’t tell anyone else) for traditional New Mexico food and Tucanos Brazilan Grill is an all-time favorite of the lunch and dinner crowd.
